Network Operations Center (NOC)

Ovation Networks' NOC is based on three main objectives:

Virtualization to provide flexibility for growth and disaster recovery
Open Source Systems to improve our efficiency while lowering our cost
Proactive Monitoring and Preventative Thinking in every decision

First, we built our NOC on the premise that while we maintain and own the infrastructure, it needs to be virtualized to provide more flexibility for growth and disaster recovery. We have accomplished this by growing our infrastructure with redundancy at two different data centers and customizing all of our tools so they could be used from anywhere in the world. Second, we wanted to leverage the strength of the Open Source Community, to improve our efficiency and lower our cost. This has proven to be a very key factor for the entire organization, as it has allowed processes to become more efficient on a daily basis. Finally, our NOC was built with a Proactive Enterprise approach. This has taken our first two objectives and brought them to a new level. Every decision revolves around proactive and preventative thinking. While this was historically only a stance taken by Enterprise NOC's, it has become pinnacle to any successful and efficient monitoring organization. Having built our NOC from the ground up based on this objective, allows us to continue to build off a strong foundation as we grow with our customers.
